There’s a famous quote by Rumi, ‘What you seek, is seeking you’. It’s true! Think about why you want the things you want: the house, the car, the money, the perfect partner. You want them because it will make you feel good to have them, right? Of course! Everything you want, you want it because it will make you feel good. Just as everything you don’t want, you don’t want because it will make you feel bad to have it. This is simple.
So why then, do we often find ourselves so focused on the exact things we don’t want? Why do we do it to ourselves? Then we wonder why it’s those exact things that show up for us in our lives!
Energy flows where attention goes. This is the basis of the Law of Attraction. Now you don’t even need to use that term to understand what I’m talking about, just as Nikola Tesla said, ‘think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration’. We are all energy. Even if the words ‘energy’ and ‘vibration’ make you switch off, don’t worry, you don’t have to use them. All you need to pay attention to right now, is what you’re focusing on.
How many times a day do you focus on all the areas of your life that aren’t fulfilling? Be it your job, your finances, or your relationship, what areas of your life, that you’re not satisfied with, do you give the most thought?
Now think about the areas of your life that you are satisfied with, what do you love about your life? What are you grateful for? What do you always have enough of?
Pause for a moment and think about which thoughts dominate the majority of your day.
Think about your closest friends, people you spend a lot of time with. Are they generally positive people, or do they constantly tell you about everything that’s going wrong in their lives? No matter how much you care about these people, if they are negative then this can leave you feeling drained and usually quite negative yourself.
Be careful of your own words, make sure you aren’t scripting the life you don’t want, only speak of the good. Just as with your thoughts, watch how you speak, start speaking positively about your life – find the positive in everything.
Think of your brain as a steam train, every thought you think is fuel that gets the train moving. Whether good or bad, the more fuel you give it the faster it’s going to go, picking up momentum.
The more momentum, the more thoughts the train is going to pick up along the way. If you’re focused on positive thinking then the train will pick up more of the same thoughts, that are a vibrational match, along the way.
This is the Law of Attraction in motion. The train is full-speed ahead and you’re well on your way to feeling incredible because you’ve already got that momentum going. But, if you’re moving in the opposite direction, if you’re thinking negatively, then guess what? This train is going to do exactly the same thing and head in the opposite direction to what you actually want.
The question is, which train are you getting on?
Find your focus
There is a part of the brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS), it creates a filter based on what you’re focusing on, sifting through what is important to you and making sure you notice it. Think of a colour for example. Focus on just that one colour for a few minutes. Now take a look at your surroundings and notice how that one colour now jumps out at you. You’ve shifted your focus to that one colour and now your RAS is honing in on just that.
Imagine how negative thinking causes the RAS to kick in and filter your perception so you notice the same things in your outside world.
Now you have a better understanding about how thought builds momentum, and you’ve re-directed your focus (hopefully), now you can start thinking about the things you actually want. What do you want to experience? What do you want to show up in your life? How do you want to feel?
Everything you want, wants you
You want health because it feels good to be healthy. You want money because it feels good to be financially free and to provide for your family. You want a happy relationship because it feels good to be with someone you love and who loves you.
Stop focusing on the opposite. Stop focusing on what you don’t want and start focusing on what you do want. It’s that simple.
What if I told you it’s the feeling of having these things that you’re after, not the things themselves? And what if I told you you could feel that way right now without having any of them?
The brain does not know the difference between what is real and what you are imagining. Whatever you’re feeling right now it’s as real to you now as it was in the past or it will be in the future.
You want love and you feel love right now, that is the energy you’re projecting. If you focus on feeling this way on a regular basis then that is the energy you will attract.
You only attract that which you are a vibrational match to.
You can’t attract love if you’re not a loving person.
Feel good right now and more of what makes you feel good will show up in your life. You have to be a match to what you want, not what you don’t want.
Imagine a beautiful ocean filled with everything you want just waiting for you to scoop it all up. Begin affirming, ‘Health wants me!’ ‘Love wants me!’ ‘Money wants me!’ Now take a bucket to the ocean and scoop up everything you desire.
No matter if you take a single drop of the ocean, or you take the whole ocean, there is always enough for everyone.
Focus on what you do want, feel that feeling of having it, and allow it to show up in your life.
Have an awesome day,
